Biography

Dr. Okamoto worked as a design engineer and software consultant for Digital Equipment Corporation from 1987 to 1993, then earned her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at Washington University. Since joining the department faculty in 1997, she has taught courses in engineering design, engineering mechanics, biomechanics, and numerical methods, as well mentoring student researchers at the BS, MS, and doctoral levels. She currently serves as director of the Spartan Light Metal Products Makerspace and teaches undergraduate engineering design courses. She is a member of Prof. Philip Bayly’s research group, where she studies brain biomechanics.
