Application requirements
Before beginning the application, please review the checklist items for details on required materials.
All eligible applicants must have earned or will have earned an undergraduate degree by the start of their graduate program.
Applications close at 11:59PM EST on the application deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.
An application will not be reviewed until the application has been submitted electronically and all required payments and supplemental materials have been received; Incomplete applications will be ineligible for reviewed.

Non-Refundable $75 Application Fee
Payable online by credit card directly after submission of application. Timely payment of the application fee is required to meet our application deadline.
Application fee waivers will be applied automatically for applicants meeting any of the following criteria, as demonstrated in the application:
- Current Washington University in St. Louis student or employee
- Attending an eligible information session.
Transcripts
Upload electronic or scanned student-issued copies of transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended.
Transcripts must clearly show your full legal name, the name of the institution, a year-by-year listing of all courses taken, and the grades/marks received*. The documents must be translated to English. If your school does not provide transcripts in English, you must provide a transcript in the original language AND an English translation from a professional translation service.
*In-Progress transcripts: If you have not yet completed your current program at the time of application, please provide transcript(s) showing the work you have completed to date and courses in progress.
We do not require transcript evaluations, but we encourage submitting a transcript evaluation from a NACES member organization if you earned or will earn a prerequisite degree outside of the United States.
Record your academic institution(s) and upload your transcript(s) in the Academic History section of the application.

Letters of Recommendation
Three (3) letters of recommendation are required for application.
Recommenders should include research mentors, faculty members/advisors, supervisors, or work colleagues.
You will be asked to provide the recommender's contact information in the application. Your recommenders will receive an email with instructions and a weblink for completing the recommendation form and uploading a recommendation letter through our online system. Contact your recommenders prior to starting your application informing them of an eventual email requesting their submission of a recommendation.
All letters of recommendation must be submitted by the recommender through the online system. Paper and email recommendations will not be accepted.
It is your responsibility to monitor submission to ensure that all letters of recommendation are received by the application deadline.
NOTE: For application to our part-time programs, two (2) letters of recommendation are required.

Briefly explain professional/research experience and interests, long-term career goals, and why you are interested in our program.
Resume/CV
Outline your education, research and professional experience, presentations or publications, and relevant honors, awards, activities, or volunteer work.
GRE Scores
Reference the information below for individual program requirements.
While the GRE General Test is optional for many programs, applicants are still encouraged to submit valid GRE scores if a test has already been taken or can take the test and provide results by our application deadline, as it gives us additional information when evaluating an application. Submission of GRE scores will neither help nor hurt overall chances of admission, nor will it provide an advantage over candidates who do not report scores.

English Proficiency Scores and Exemptions
International applicants are required to report official English Proficiency test scores.
Exemption from this requirement is automatically granted to applicants who meet one of the following waiver eligibility criteria, as demonstrated in the application:
- Citizenship from one of the following countries: Australia, Cameroon, Canada, Commonwealth Caribbean nations, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Kenya, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, Zambia, or Zimbabwe
- Applicant has completed two or more years of documented study within the past five years at a university-level, English-medium institution in one of the countries listed above.
- Applicant has earned a bachelor’s degree* or equivalent within the past five years from a non-United States institution in a country where the official language is English based on the CIA World Factbook.
- Applicant has two or more years of continuous full-time work experience in the United States within the past four years (current resume and an employment letter on company letterhead is required stating the dates of employment for verification)
*For joint degree programs (dual, 2+2, etc.) between English-medium institutions and non-English-medium institutions, applicants must have attended the English-medium institution, in a country where the official language is English based on the CIA World Factbook, for a minimum of two years (within the past five years).
International applicants not meeting the criteria for exemption must provide a valid English Proficiency test from the chart below. We cannot accept expired scores. Test scores should be valid up to the application deadline. Send official scores to Washington University in St. Louis by the application deadline.
