Requirements

  1. Interested applicants must submit a complete application to an eligible PhD program by the PhD application deadline, December 15.
  2. During the application process, applicants must submit an essay (400-600 words) on the following: The McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis set a strategic vision in 2017 for Leadership Through Excellence. One of the objectives of that plan is to develop world-class researchers. Describe how the research you wish to pursue will influence the research community of the future and why WashU is the place for you to pursue that research.

Eligibility

  • Full-time undergraduate student or master’s degree student at any of the universities listed above
  • Meets the eligibility criteria for fall enrollment
  • Applying to an eligible PhD program (listed above)

Financial details

  • Full tuition waiver
  • Monthly stipend for the duration of the PhD program as long as academic progress is being made
  • Awardee will receive a one-time award of $5,000 USD at the start of the PhD program, and $500 per year for 5 years which can be used for professional development activities
