Biomedical Engineering

Teaching Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering: Circuits, Design, Instrumentation

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time, teaching-focused faculty position to teach electrical circuit concepts and applications to undergraduate biomedical engineering students, support the existing capstone senior design course, and develop specialized elective courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical or electrical engineering or a related field, and be prepared to teach courses at the intersection of these disciplines. Teaching faculty are also expected to serve as an undergraduate faculty advisor and participate in Department and University service. We seek candidates whose teaching, service, or other experience has prepared them to contribute to our core values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The current search is focused primarily at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, but appointment at the level of Teaching Professor or Professor of the Practice will be considered. This position comes without tenure. 

Circuit theory and applications, engineering design, signal processing, instrumentation, computational modeling, and data science are key areas of educational emphasis within biomedical engineering.  The Department of Biomedical Engineering seeks candidates with teaching interests in circuit theory and applications, engineering capstone design, and one or more of the other listed areas, with specific application to physiological and biological systems. The School is experiencing tremendous growth with increasing student interest in the research disciplinary areas of the Department, including biomedical imaging, cardiac and neural engineering, and women’s health engineering. The McKelvey School of Engineering provides a wide range of networking, mentoring, and development opportunities for all faculty.

Assistant, Associate/Full Faculty Positions in Data Visualization

The McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis seeks to fill two tenure-track positions: one as Assistant and one as Associate or Full Professor rank in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE). We seek candidates whose research focuses on Data Visualization, Visual Analytics, and Human-Computer Interaction (particularly relating to visual data representation).

For the rank of Assistant, we seek candidates with exceptional research, teaching, mentoring, and funding promise and commitment to advancing the field of data visualization. The ideal candidate for the rank of Associate or Full will have outstanding teaching, publication, funding, and service records commensurate with tenure at that rank. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work can advance Washington University’s mission to support interdisciplinary collaborations across diverse areas such as Engineering, Design, Psychology, and Medicine and leverage new advances in Artificial Intelligence for improved decision-making and data insights. The CSE Department at Washington University is uniquely collegial and actively involved in a wide array of research endeavors, offering ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Our key strategic themes involve collaborative efforts with the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, supporting the new STEM-designated Master of Design for Human-Computer Interaction and Emerging Technology program. Many of our faculty collaborate with the School of Social Work and Public Health, facilitated by a joint Ph.D. program under the Division of Computational and Data Science (DCDS). This program unites several departments with a shared interest in computational and data science. Open Lecturer position

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis invites applicants for the position of Lecturer (1 year engagement, renewable) or, for highly experienced candidates, Senior Lecturer (3+ year engagement, renewable after the first year). Of particular interest are candidates with expertise and teaching interests in either of the following two areas:

  • Data science and its applications;
  • Cyberphysical systems and security.

This position is part of the school’s recently created teaching track, which strives to provide competitive, long-term career paths in support of the school’s teaching mission.  As a teaching faculty you will play a key role in maintaining the School’s global reputation for high quality education. 

Duties include:

Required qualifications:

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Integrated Circuits 

The Electrical and Systems Engineering department at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions with an effective start date on or after July 1, 2025. Candidates should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer engineering or a closely related discipline.
