Where did you complete your undergraduate degree?
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Please provide your lab and description of research.
I work at the Functional Neuroimaging and Biophotonics Lab led by Dr. Adam Bauer. My PhD thesis is on parvalbumin local circuits and global neuronal networks and their role on motor recovery after stroke.
What played into your decision to get a graduate engineering degree?
I would like to conduct cutting-edge research to solve real-world medical issues.
Why did you pick WashU?
WashU has strong Biomedial Engineering and Neuroscience programs. The Biomedical Engineering Program provides us with a flexible curriculum and gives new students opportunities to rotate with different labs to find the best match.
What is your favorite thing about St. Louis?
In the summer, St. Louis has great free musical performances at Muny.
What advice would you give to a new student?
It is important to network and take advantages of all the resources on campus.
What campus activities or groups would you recommend to a new student?
I would recommend Toastmaster for public speaking. It is a supportive community and you can listen to interesting talks all the time.
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to become a professor in the future.
