Boyd gives keynote at ASEE annual conference
Emily Boyd was keynote speaker at ASEE's 126th Annual Conference & Exposition June 17
Emily Boyd, teaching professor and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, was keynote speaker for the American Society for Engineering Education's 126th Annual Conference & Exposition held June 16-19 in Tampa, Florida. Boyd addressed the advantages and challenges nontenure-track faculty face in academia and offered observations and suggestions on how universities and engineering departments can create welcoming and supportive environments for this part of the faculty.
Boyd is director of the WashU Summer Engineering Fellowship; a leader in the McKelvey School of Engineering's Women & Engineering Program and founder of its Women & Engineering Leadership Society; and co-president of WashU's Association for Teaching, Research, and Practice Faculty. She also is faculty adviser to the schools ASME and SWE student chapters.
