BME doctoral student elected president of the Graduate Professional Council
Taylor Nie will serve a one-year term on the GPC
Taylor Nie, a biomedical engineering doctoral student in the McKelvey School of Engineering, has been elected president of the Washington University in St. Louis Graduate Professional Council (GPC). The GPC represents all graduate and professional students at Washington University in St. Louis and serves as a liaison between the university administration, faculty and graduate student body.
Nie was the McKelvey Engineering representative to the GPC and previously served as vice president of social programming. She serves as the Department of Biomedical Engineering representative to the Graduate Student Senate and was previously the social chair for the Association of Graduate Engineering Students.
During Nie’s time on the GPC, the council successfully lobbied for a new shuttle between the Danforth Campus and the School of Medicine, supporting graduate students who travel between the two campuses.
Nie is a doctoral student in the Optical and Ultrasound Imaging Lab led by Quing Zhu, the Edwin H. Murty Professor of Engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, developing novel imaging strategies for assessing cancer treatment response.
