The online Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program, offered by the Sever Institute in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, was ranked No. 15 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 ranking of best online programs.
“We designed our Engineering Management program for students with technical experience to become leaders who understand the full cycle of business,” said John Bade, executive director of the Sever Institute. “The MEM program meets the needs of students to advance in their career. The part-time online modality of the MEM program expands access for working students.”
The online MEM program is designed for working professionals and recent graduates who wish to advance with the knowledge, leadership and skills needed to understand, shape and lead projects, as well as manage teams, engineering functions and companies. Courses are designed with input from employers, thought leaders and practitioners, and taught by industry professionals. Students learn the art and science of the complete business cycle, gaining direct experience by running simulated businesses and working on real industry projects.
Sever also offers full-time and part-time in-person options for the MEM, as well as a graduate certificate in engineering management.
