Research
Kristen's current research interests relate to the integration of active learning and outreach into classroom and laboratory settings.
They earned their PhD between 2013 and 2017 at The University of Tennessee under the direction of Dr. Qiang He, where they researched stormwater runoff management for infrastructure, environmental microbiology, and microbial surface attachment and survival.
Biography
Kristen Wyckoff joined WashU's faculty in January 2022 after working as a lecturer at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville for four years. Kristen has experience teaching graduate and undergraduate lecture and lab based courses in environmental engineering, water resources engineering and engineering communication.
Kristen is currently a member of AEESP, ASEE and ASCE. In addition to engineering topics, Kristen also has a history of and interest in improving diversity and inclusion in university settings, with a special interest in LGBTQIA+ people. Kristen has completed Safe Zone training, STRIDE training, and is also an ASCE ExCEEd Teaching Fellow (2018, Florida Gulf Coast).
Kristen is a registered P.E. (Environmental) in Tennessee.
