Kalamazoo College and Washington University in St. Louis

Are you performing any research in a lab?
I joined the Yuan Lab and Jiao Lab to investigate innovative methods that connect electrochemical CO2/CO reduction with biomanufacturing. Our goal is to develop sustainable and practical solutions for real-world applications.

Did you participate in summer research prior to your graduate degree? If so, when and where did you complete your research?
Yes, in 2019 at Kzoo and in 2021 at WashU

What made you want to pursue a graduate engineering degree?
I love researching and would like to continue doing it to benefit all humanity.

Why did you choose WashU?
WashU offers interdisciplinary research projects that perfectly align with my research interests.

What is your favorite thing about St. Louis?
I absolutely love the summer in St. Louis. I can enjoy the fireflies in Forest Park and the beautiful sunsets near Creve Coeur Lake.

What advice would you give to a new student?
Discover your path and relish the journey!

What campus activities or groups would you recommend to a new student?
I really enjoyed all the events organized by the Engineering school and EECE department. Since our group wasn't particularly large, making friends was quite easy, and I enjoyed conversing with them during the events. I also highly recommend joining some of the sports groups. Personally, I enjoyed the badminton club.

What are your plans for the future?
I'm considering becoming a PI or starting a startup company in the future.
