Where did you complete your undergraduate degree?
Rutgers University
Are you performing any research in a lab?
I am in Dr. Kimberly Parker's lab in the EECE department. My research focuses on the volatilization of amines from herbicide salts and their fate in the environment.
What made you want to pursue a graduate engineering degree?
I earned my bachelor's degree in Chemistry and realized that I would like to apply my knowledge to address real-world environmental challenges. Pursuing a PhD degree in environmental engineering would allow me to explore practical solutions.
Why did you choose WashU?
WashU is well-known for its engineering programs. The EECE department provides many collaborative research opportunities across chemistry, biology, atmospheric science, and environmental science.
What is your favorite thing about St. Louis?
St. Louis is both convenient and affordable, which makes my PhD life here easier and more enjoyable. I also like to spend time in Forest Park, the Art Museum and the zoo.
What advice would you give to a new student?
Always question what you are learning.
What campus activities or groups would you recommend to a new student?
Attend more department-wide activities to meet other students and faculty members. Consider becoming an ambassador just like us!
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to find a postdoc position after graduation to continue my research. I also want to travel and explore more countries whenever I get the chance!
