Please provide your lab and description of research.
Computational Medical Imaging (CMI) Lab led by Dr. Abhinav Kumar Jha. My research at the CMI lab focuses on developing innovative computational imaging methods for improving quantitative image analysis in PET and SPECT.

Where did you complete your undergraduate degree?
The University of Rochester

What played into your decision to get a graduate engineering degree?
As a student who had been trained in the field of biomedical engineering since my undergraduate studies, I have deeply recognized the significance of integrating engineering principles with medicine and biology to facilitate the advance in health care. Getting a PhD degree in biomedical engineering would be incredibly important for me to build on the expertise in the field.

Why did you pick WashU?
I was greatly attracted by the distinctively high diversity of the research areas in the BME department and the close collaborations between the department and the hospital.

What was your favorite course and why?
My favorite course is Mathematics of Imaging Science (BME 470/570). This course is extremely helpful for me not only because it is very close to my research in the lab, but also because it helps me to develop very important understanding in the field of Medical Imaging.

What advice would you give to a new student?  
My advice would be to find a balance between your research and your personal life, as this would definitely help to improve your efficiency in research.

What is your favorite thing about St. Louis?
Forest Park! Love walking my dog in the park during the weekends!
