Benjamin Kumfer

Biography

Ben Kumfer is dedicated to teaching and research on topics at the intersection of energy systems and the environment. He has over 20 years of experience in combustion research, with emphasis on the utilization of oxygen to increase process efficiency, reduce pollutant emissions, produce functional nanomaterials, and enable capture of carbon dioxide. He has published work on topics including pressurized oxy-combustion, biomass cofiring, particle formation, and health effects of combustion-generated particles. Ben serves as an advisor for senior capstone projects and teaches undergraduate courses on environmental engineering and beer brewing.
