Kraus named executive director of finance and budgeting for McKelvey Engineering
She has more than 30 years of experience at WashU
Laura Kraus, who has worked in finance and accounting at Washington University in St. Louis for more than 30 years, has been named executive director of finance and budgeting in the McKelvey School of Engineering.
Kraus has been serving as senior interim director of finance in McKelvey Engineering since September 2025. As executive director, Kraus will lead financial planning, analysis and oversight of McKelvey Engineering’s financial operations. She will work closely with the offices of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration and the Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance to align financial operations with university and school priorities.

McKelvey Professor. “Laura has been an invaluable member of the McKelvey finance team for more than a decade and brings unmatched expertise and experience to the role. I am confident she will ensure McKelvey’s operations are efficient and fiscally sound.”
Kraus joined the Engineering school in 2013, serving as director of reporting and director of finance, planning and analysis. Previously, she was a senior financial analyst for the Department of Anesthesiology at WashU Medicine from 2001-2013; and had accounting roles in the Physicians’ Billing Service and the College of Arts & Sciences from 1994-2001. Prior to joining WashU, Kraus had roles in accounting at Arthur Andersen and Edison Brothers Stores Inc.
Kraus has a bachelor’s in accountancy from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and is a Certified Public Accountant.
