Computer Purchases
Description
This service facilitates the acquisition of desktop computers, laptop computers and computer peripherals for faculty and staff. The university maintains an inventory of Dell and Apple computers to meet different performance and budget needs. These computers come with pre-installed operating systems, essential software, and hardware configuration suited to the requirements of the user's role. The service includes guidance on selecting appropriate models and placing orders with the WashU IT Depot. Once ordered WashU IT will reach out to coordinate delivery and set up of the computer.

Administrative Staff and Full-Time Teaching Faculty Computer Requests
McKelvey Engineering IT funds devices for these groups. This includes purchasing hardware for new individuals as well as replacing equipment that has reached end of life.
If you are a hiring manager bringing on a new individual, please reach out to support@seas.wustl.edu at least 2 weeks prior to the start date to ensure the equipment will be in place for the individual’s first day.
If you feel that your school issued comptuer is not meeting your needs, you should first reach out to WashU IT and have them diagnose and address and potential issues. At the point WashU IT is not able to address your concerns you should reach out to McKelvey Engineering at support@seas.wustl.edu to coordinate potential replacement of your device.
Other Computer Requests
McKelvey Engineering IT does not fund devices for faculty with grant and start up funds or staff in research areas. However, we can be available for consultation and coordination of orders. Please contact support@seas.wustl.edu for assistance.
