Research
Xudong Chen's research interests are in the area of control theory, decision theory, dynamical systems, stochastic processes, and network science. Chen's group develops advanced mathematical tools and novel engineering methods to tackle emerging challenges in large-scale multi-agent systems, and establishes revolutionary approaches for control of these systems. Multi-agent systems are ubiquitous in science and engineering. Applications of Chen’s research range from quantum systems, smart material, neuroscience, social science, to robotics, drones and spacecrafts.
Biography
Xudong Chen is currently an associate professor in the Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to that, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Chen earned a BS degree in electronics engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2009, and a PhD degree in electrical engineering from Harvard University in 2014. Chen received the 2023 A.V. ‘Bal’ Balakrishnan Early Career Award, the 2021 Donald P. Eckman Award, an NSF CAREER Award in 2021, and the AFOSR Young Investigator Award in 2020.
