O’Brien wins awards at national pitch competition
Christine O’Brien was awarded both the People’s Choice and Judges Award at the 2023 Equalize Pitch Competition
Christine O’Brien, assistant professor of biomedical engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, was awarded the People’s Choice Award and Judges Award among 22 national participants during the 2023 Equalize pitch competition.
O’Brien won both awards in the medical technology category for her startup company, Armor Medical Inc., which develops technology to detect early changes that occur during postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). The technology is a light-based sensor that helps identify early signs of PPH so that low-cost and accessible treatments can be deployed to stop hemorrhage and prevent maternal morbidity and mortality.
