Angela Wilson, assistant provost at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named associate dean for graduate programs in the McKelvey School of Engineering, effective Feb. 16, 2026.

In the role, Wilson will lead a team that oversees admissions and recruitment, financial aid and funding, and student advising for McKelvey Engineering’s 1,500 graduate students. She will liaise with the Office of International Students & Scholars and WashU Student Affairs and collaborate with McKelvey Engineering leadership; the faculty; university leadership and other schools to ensure McKelvey maintains high-quality graduate programs and that McKelvey students receive appropriate support throughout their graduate career. She will also ensure the school implements and adheres to all relevant policies and processes for McKelvey Engineering graduate students.

“Angela brings deep expertise in the management of graduate programs and will bring new energy as we work to drive our efforts forward,” said Aaron F. Bobick, dean and the James M. McKelvey Professor. “We are looking forward to Angela’s leadership as we continue to grow graduate education and begin direct admissions at McKelvey.”

Wilson succeeds Cathy Freesmeier, who retired in 2025 after more than 30 years at WashU.

Wilson joined the university in 2018 as an assistant dean and registrar and later associate dean of the former Graduate School. She served as the director of institutional development in the Office of the Provost prior to taking on her current role. Angela brings a proven track record of leadership across multiple institutions in the Midwest, blending hands-on expertise in graduate program management with a broad, strategic understanding of academic administration and policy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and a master of education, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is pursuing a doctorate in education from the University of Iowa.
